Marie and Alan,
Want to thank you for having Cappy and Kyle out. In the almost 5 years I have been coming it has been a long time since I have really been excited about where Beamer and I are. It was the first time in years they both had good things to say and I am able to move forward and not feel like I am stuck. Do have to say it was worth spending the last year working on getting Beamer working away from the stock and only doing goats. It is amazing how easy it is to transition back to sheep and put Beamer in a new field new challenges and he was happy to do everything. Loved his expression when I asked him to go on an outrun to pick up the sheep in the trees and he did not see them. He looked at me like I had lost my mind. Then the sheep came out of the trees and the light went on.
I have my things to work on:
1) Keep my body facing the direction I want the sheep to go
2) Keep the stick on the outside and away from Beamer so not to push him out
3) Let him cover the stock to shut them down from running
I will continue to focus on what we have been working on at least once or twice every time we work and work on driving the other time. I don’t plan on entering him where we need driving until the spring. For now I am looking forward to trying out the started B course with goats.
Now to find the key to getting Holly to work with me and not go off and do her own thing.
Please forward on my thanks to Cappy and Kyle and tell them I look forward to the next time with them and Beamer.
Linda
Dear Alan and Marie, I just wanted you to know how amazed I was at the progress of everyone this weekend! It was incredible how Bob can help people make such great strides with their dogs in such a short time. I was thrilled with Chase's progress in rating his stock. That was an important skill that we were missing. Also, I love his new gorgeous leather collar he won for Most Improved Dog.
Bob and Rosie should be proud of their puppies. Ripley, Gypsy, Star, Mike and Emma are looking great for such young dogs. It is hard to believe that they are only 6 months old when you watch them with the sheep. I can't wait for Ripley to get a little older when she can be ready for steady work. In the meantime, I will just enjoy watching her grow up.
Thanks again for a fun and informative weekend. Happy Herding, Tricia
I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS FOR A GREAT WEEKEND. WE ALL HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. BOB AS ALWAYS, NEVER END SO SURPRISE US WITH ALL HIS KNOWLEDGE. IF ONLY WE COULD LEARN WHAT HE HAS FORGOTTEN OVER HIS LIFETIME !!!! FOR THOSE WHO COULD NOT MAKE THE CLINIC,THIS IS WHAT YOU MISSED.
1. THE RETURN OF THE THREE STOOGES (WE WILL NOT MENTION NAMES)
2.SATURDAY NIGHT THE LADIES STARTED THE FASTEST FIRE UNDER TERRIBLE CONDITIONS TRYING TO KEEP THEIR MEN WARM .. SUNDAY MORNING IT WAS THE MENS TURN AND I THINK SOME OF THE LADIES GOT FROST BITE .WAITNG ON THE FIRE.
3. THE CASH POT ON WHO FELL FACE DOWN IN THE MUD WAS UNCLAIMED. HEATHER HAD THE MOST MONEY ON HER. I WAS THE CLOSEST TO FALLING SO JUST SEND THE MONEY TO ME. I THINK THAT IS HOW IT WORKED!!!
4. THE FOOD WAS UNBELIEVABLE. THERE WAS ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED AN ARMY.
5 THE BEST PART OF THE WEEKEND WAS SPENDING TIME WITH OUR FRIENDS.
EVERYBODY SHOULD TRY TO MAKE THE CLINICS WHEN POSSIBLE THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN.. THEY ARE A GREAT WAY TO GET AWAY FROM THE EVERYDAY TRAUMAS OF LIFE.
SEE YOU GUYS SOON,
JAME
Hi Marie and Alan, We had a great time working with Cappy and Kyle. Thank you especially for setting out ducks for us both days. I know it is extra work when you are already very busy. Flynn only saw ducks once before at Sherry's so I was so happy with how he worked. I appreciate all you've done for us. Pam McShane
We got home about noon today and the pups are relaxing in their kennels now at the foot of our bed. Thank you so much for another fun filled weekend. We had a lot of fun and both of us came away with new skills and understanding of the sport/game. Stay safe and keep us in mind for another Kyle/Cappy clinic. Stay safe. Best Regards! -- John M Baughman
Another great clinic. Thank you for hosting these great learning opportunities. Between the clinics and your regular guidance, I feel like my learning curve continually improves. Watching those just starting their training, I can see where I’ve been and appreciate how far I’ve come - but the learning never ends. Thanks again for all your help. Jenny Hartman
